Comment: I was a bit of a fan of Lonely Planet Guide Books until I bought a Kindle Edition of The India Guide.

One of the strong point of the the LP books is usually the maps. It was really an attractive idea that I would be able to carry all my books in one compact electronic gadget.

All was well until I tried reading the maps. They were impossible! Without the capacity to zoom they were impossible to read. I was lost. Maybe a magnifying glass would have helped, but I pretty well gave up. So to Kindle and LP I say that you desperately need to do something about the maps for Kindle. They are useless.

They could work better on the Kindle DX, but then its not so convenient for traveling.

Comment: Lonely Planet is normally my 'bible' when travelling. It guides you to the best activities, sights and takes you to valuable hotels and restaurants.
Maybe India is a hard country to manage due it's size, but in general this book is to much 'general' seems like every state in India is judged on the same bases and that the nice 'specialties' for each states is not highlighted. I miss like extended information about beaches in Goa or trekking in Darjeeling.

Comment: As it covers the whole country, it is quite heavy to back pack, but is the #1 choice for us, and most of those we meet. Would not visit a country without a lonely planet. Indispensable companion.

Summary: Given the size of India this book does great...
Comment: I have been an avid traveller and have found LP quite good in all my previous travels. Its a different thing tackling India given the size and the nitty gritty of things in terms of India not being that organized and changing pretty fast. However, LP guide for India has been amazing in the amount and detail of it's coverage. I found the information quite useful and I am sure I am gonna put it to good use.
